Afua Njoki Richardson is an Eisner Award-winning American comic book artist and writer, widely recognized for her exceptional work on Marvel’s Black Panther: World of Wakanda series. For more than two decades, she has skillfully woven her African American and Indigenous heritage into both her art and fashion designs. Her creative contributions extend to notable projects such as the animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and HBO’s critically acclaimed, Emmy-winning series Lovecraft Country.

In addition to illustrating, Afua is a multifaceted talent—she is also a writer, voice actor, musician, vocalist, game design consultant, and public speaker. She frequently collaborates with educational and scientific organizations, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and various universities around the globe. Currently, she is developing her own original series, Aquarius, the Book of Mer. Afua’s diverse family background, encompassing science, military service, music, and art, combined with her deep interest in culture, provides her with a distinctive perspective on education, communication, and creative expression. Born and raised in New York City, Afua now resides in Illinois.
